About Us

Anaïs Lopez

Director of Almaje

Anaïs Lopez took over Almaje from her mother, who founded the business in 1999 with a vision to make language learning engaging, practical, and immersive.

Under Anaïs’ leadership, Almaje continues to grow, offering personalised 1:1 and group tutoring, document translation services, and cultural immersion experiences and events.

With a deep passion for travel and cultural exploration, Anaïs is fascinated by the richness of global traditions and is committed to bringing these experiences to those who may not have the opportunity to immerse themselves firsthand. By leading Almaje’s expansion beyond tutoring into translation services and cultural programs, she ensures that language learning is not just about words but about real-world connection and understanding.

While Anaïs does not tutor, she works closely with her team of educators, ensuring they apply the Rassias Method effectively, helping students gain confidence and fluency in their chosen language.

Meet Our Team

Marilyne Lopez

Founder of Almaje

Marilyne, the founder of Almaje, was formerly our Principal and Head Coach before transitioning into her current role as our Customer Relations guru. She combines a highly professional teaching method with a very personal approach.

As a native French speaker with 30 years of teaching experience, Marilyne has worked with students of all ages, from early childhood to adults, helping them develop their speaking, grammatical, and cultural knowledge in French.

Françoise

A tutor passionate about effective communication.

Françoise has been a French tutor for over 14 years in Melbourne. She came to Australia with multiple degrees from the University of Paris X. Having learned 5 foreign languages, she understands the challenges that everyone faces along the journey from absolute beginner to being fully bilingual: children in primary school aiming for immersion/accelerated or bilingual programs; high school and university students seeking high scores at VCE, IB and DELF; and adults wanting to enjoy the French culture or to work in France.

Urszula

An Experienced French Tutor.

Urszula has worked in schools in which she designed and implemented the French programmes and coordinated the schools’ multi-language programmes. She has worked as a Regional Consultant for Languages and as a Curriculum Programs Officer for French in Victoria.

She has travelled extensively in France and in Francophone countries.

Thierry

Helping students excel in French at VCE.

Thierry is a native French speaker with Breton origins. He loves helping his students achieve great results more easily, and often exceed expectations at IB and VCE.

His experience over 30 years with students in the private and catholic school systems gives him extra insights in supporting students of all abilities.
